Information-theoretic bounds on quantum advantage in machine learning
New session of the Mathematics, Physics, and Machine Learning Seminar (MPML) seminar:
17 March 2021 6.00pm Hsin Yuan (Robert) Huang, Caltech Information-theoretic bounds on quantum advantage in machine learning The actors and playwrights Raquel Oliveira and José Leite interviewed Yasser Omar, in the context of the play they are preparing, inspired by Alice in Wonderland, for the artistic programme Indagações de Alice at Centro Cultural de Belém. Here's the second part of the interview: Part 2 – Time.
The article Robustness of Noisy Quantum Networks, by B. C. Coutinho, W. J. Munro, K. Nemoto, Y. Omar, is available at: arXiv:2103.03266 (2021). Get PDF

The QuantHEP Seminar Tackling Tracking with Quantum Computation by Yasser Omar is now available online in the QuantHEP Seminar YouTube channel.
Congratulations to Diogo Cruz, Duarte Magano, and Sagar Pratapsi – PhD students of the Physics of Information and Quantum Technologies Group at Instituto de Telecomunicações, enrolled in the Physics Doctoral Programme of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, under the supervision of Yasser Omar – who won the D-Wave Challenge at iQuHACK 2021 !
iQuHACK 2021, MIT's second annual quantum hackathon, had 219 participants (from 943 applicants) with 49 teams across 12 time zones, 29 countries, and 40 universities. The fourth member of their team was Óscar Amaro, a Physics master student at IST. Óscar is currently a scholar of the Gulbenkian Programme New Talents in Quantum Technologies, developing research at GoLP/IPFN, under the supervision of Marija Vranic. Diogo Cruz and Duarte Magano are alumni of this extremely competitive programme, which aims at training some of the most talented students in Portugal in Quantum Information Science and Technologies. Congratulations to all for this achievement! |
